Launch of 'koiwi koiwi | bone bone'
Sunday 18 July 2010 at Poetry at the Ballroom Cafe Newtown, Wellington ![]() Fiona Kidman chatted to the DomPost about the launch event! Actually, it was packed, several of my friends had panic attacks and my father nearly suffocated, but that's gotta be a good thing, right?! You know, for POETRY?! ![]() Singing 'The Daughter's Song' - for my mum. There are a lot more poems for mum in this new book. Christine White rockin' it out while I appear to be singing another song entirely. Ian Hull-Brown driving the sexy Bose sound system in the background. Onya, Ian. My gorgeous congratulations cake from Lorraine! A map of NZ made outta white choc. She admits she ate Stewart Island as soon as she made it. Apparently it 'wouldn't fit on the cake'. There 'wasn't room'. ![]() The beautiful Teresia reading her fantastic poetry - some I'd heard before (one features on her CD 'I Can See Fiji') and some was brilliantly new to me. Her launch speech was amazing. ![]() Simone Kaho reading a selection of poems that she's writing as part of her Masters in Creative Writing at the IIML, Vic Uni. The monsters! The weta. NZ's acclaimed novelist Elizabeth Knox (Vintner's Luck, The Angel's Cut...) is a huge fan of Simone's poetry, and so am I. Bring on the book! Christine White playing slide with a drinking glass. Check out more of her sonic adventures. Some of the crowd! Teresia giving me my beautiful siapo, with the ulu design... My beautiful siapo...! Christine White, me, Teresia Teaiwa, Simone Kaho and our host with the most, poet and ringmaster extraordinaire Lewis Scott : )
